Founder Brett Williams served in the United States Marine Corp from January 2017 being honorably discharged in January 2021. In July of 2021, Brett learned that two fellow Marines he had served with in his platoon had committed suicide. Having served closely alongside these young men, Brett was devastated by the news and the horrified that they felt so desperate and alone that this was their only choice. Brett has one of the biggest hearts anyone can have. He wanted to find a way to give back in some way. That is when he came up with the idea to have a fundraiser event to donate to a company that deals specifically with PTSD and suicidal depression, particularly relating to our military and first responders.
He contacted some close friends with the idea to have a car event since we all met in the car scene. We have so many great memories with our cars and going to car meets that we knew this was the perfect audience to back our cause. After a few weeks of planning, Brett pulled us aside and told us that he wanted to turn this into an ongoing effort to raise money for this cause. Unfortunately, there are 22 suicides daily within the military. The Surgeon General stated in April 2021 that between 17 and 24% of first responders suffer from PTSD with 24% reporting depression. Street Heroes Frontline Project was born to raise money to help combat these issues.
